The Power of Creation

We can’t emphasize enough how powerful it was to be witness to these young people’s talents. The song speaks to the depth of their artistry and their understanding of the plight of millions of children in our own country who face the punishing effects of racism and poverty. But the most astounding quality they project is courage and the hope and vitality upon which our own futures are blessed to rely. Travis Hjorth, the camerman, and I left their final recording session, the third session of only two hours each it took for them to create this song, so pumped up we could barely drive. How could anyone let these voices go unheard? They confirmed that HearME was not a silly dream, but a million children ready and waiting for a chance to give us beautiful music.
